moonrise

We drove to North Beach to see the moon rise. It was 'scheduled' for 6:40 pm and was to be a spectacle. The moon was as close to the earth as it ever gets. We arrived at 6:35. Walking from the car down to the path to the beach, we encountered a couple leaving and persuaded them to return and watch the show. We waited only a few minutes before sensing a faint glow on the horizon. That point started to turn from pink to red. The moon peeked over the horizon and continued to grow. A red ball slowly made its way up into the night sky. Some streaks of clouds formed patterns over the glowing orb. Then the moon began to fade behind a bank of clouds. We left the beach while small groups people were still gathered there. We walked around the block and on our return, the moon had reappeared. It was now a fully formed yellow ball floating in the sky, reflecting in the bay. Our goal had been reached: we greeted the moon rising over Miami Beach.
